The Brokerage and The Worshipful Company of Insurers celebrate 10 years of partnership.

Over the past 10 years, The Worshipful Company of Insurers (WCI) and The Brokerage have worked together to provide career opportunities in financial and professional services for disadvantaged, young Londoners.

Donations, grant funding and event support received from the livery company have been instrumental to The Brokerage in supporting over 8,000 young people a year – raising their aspirations, introducing them to financial and professional services, and providing many with employability skills and paid work opportunities.

The Brokerage opened my eyes to a world of different opportunities that I could not have found on my own.

A significant result of the partnership has been The Brokerage’s ability to support schools in outer London boroughs whose students have received very few employer-related opportunities.

Our executive director, Bridget Gardiner, shares her thoughts on the partnership, “The support we receive from The Worshipful Company of Insurers is invaluable. With the government’s National Careers Strategy stating that schools should offer every young person at least seven encounters with employers during their secondary education, we’re thrilled that our collaboration has led to opportunities for thousands of bright, young people, who simply needed the correct information, guidance and support to achieve their career potential.”

Chair of the WCI Charitable Trust, John Young, added:  “It has been our pleasure and privilege to assist The Brokerage during the last ten years and we look forward to continuing our relationship.  Fulfilment of The Brokerage’s mission should be dear to the hearts of all of us who believe that the keys to success in life should be ability and hard work rather than any accident of family or social background.

As The Brokerage and The Worshipful Company of Insurers celebrate the impact that the partnership has had over the past 10 years, preparations are in place for the start of a new summer placement programme in 2019, part funded by The Worshipful Company of Insurers.
